Tony
Just a quick note to thank you for the excellent service. The installation on our Nolan helmets is first rate. It looks like a factory installation.
While underway we are so impressed with the units performance, we cruised at 110-120 km/hr and spoke in a normal manner without having to repeat or raise our voices. No more arm waving and hand signals for us! Thanks once again.

I have the intercom and Dennis installed it on Saturday. He has done a great job. He is a perfectionist. Took longer than I expected but when for a run on Sunday. What a treat. Listening to music and being able to communicate with my wife, it was great. The only problem now is that I need to be careful when I abuse car drivers as my wife can hear everything. Can't swear. I still have to work out priorities etc, but that will happen.

Hi Tony,
I received the intercom last week ( thank you ) I fitted it on the week end. It took me about 20 minutes each helmet being very careful and hiding all wires. It then took me about an hour or so to fit the unit to the bike. I placed it under the seat which had to be removed to fit it in. I have the intercom connection coming out between the seats on the right hand side and I have the I pod connection coming out in front of the seat near the tank. I think I have done a good job as my wife didn't whinge at me. I went for a ride on Sunday with my wife and it was so great to be able to talk with her as well as having music come through. I rode around town as well as out on the highway at 100km and could still hear well, I then tried it with the Earmold earplugs in and was amazed at how clearly I could hear the music and the wife without any wind noise.
I can't recommend the intercom system highly enough, it makes the rides so much more enjoyable with my wife or kids.

Hi Tony. (Re Bluephone)
That bluetooth thing is absolutely fantastic. It certainly solves the two key issues with baehr and mobile phones - the lack of volume through the earpiece jack and the whole adapter dilemma.
I need two more! One for my other bike with the verso xl and my mate with the same unit. How long before I can get them?
The unit is sensational.
Cheers. Thanks! Carl B. Sydney Australia.

Tony,
"I've been using the Baehr 'Sono' unit now for over six months. The unit has been fitted to my KTM950 Adventure, and has followed the bike's travels through all manner of conditions - over dusty, bumpy, rutted dirt trails, through river crossings where the water reached headlight level, through mud, and on long commutes in the rain and in city traffic. At no stage has the Baehr system let me down - it's been superb! The push to talk setup works faultlessly, with the UHF cutting out any music signal when you're in communication with other bikes - or truckies warning you of radar locations. It's already saved me quite a few fines and demerit points. The sound quality is also spot on - the speakers provide excellent stereo listening and the microphone, I'm told, comes over loud and clear. Even at 120kph when you would think that helmet noise would start to interfere, the microphone still comes through loud and clear. It's been a great addition and something I would happily recommend for its high quality and utility."

Hi Tony,
After using an inferior system for rider to pillion intercom for some time on our Ducati ST4S, we came across an advert in Roadrider magazine for the Baehr Intercoms. Having relations with the NZ Police Force we made some discreet enquiries and found your advertisement to be 100% accurate.
We went ahead and purchased the Verso Plus and engaged your Sydney based installer to fit the unit for us. We can't believe the difference from our old unit. At freeway speeds of 110kmh we can hear each other as clear as a bell. The only drawback is that the missus is continually in my helmet!!!

Tony,
Last year I ordered a Baehr System for my BMW R1100RT. Its working well and Terri and I are extremely impressed with the quality of sound. So too is a good mate of mine who installed the system for me, his day job is as an Electronics Engineer on the Air Force's Tiger Helicopter Assembly project and he was very impressed with the system and how it worked.

After nearly three years of constant use the Baehr system is still perfect. Other riders are amazed that it can accommodate - the BMW AM/FM radio, CB, and mobile phone (and still with a spare port). The best is teaching my wife to describe what she is seeing in the scenery before we pass it. The rider pillion communication is great for navigating on long rides – crystal clear. The CB is used mainly to listen to the truckies on long rides who provide updates on other “nasties” on the road. The mobile phone is set for hands free operation and I have amazed a number of my work colleagues as to my location and mode of transport. I am now investigating on which MP3 player to connect so that when the radio reception on long country rides as “RS” we can listen to music.
Great system and recommended to all who ask.

Tony,
I ordered a Basic Plus and a Sono intercom system from you a couple of months ago and they are absolutely fantastic. We are using the Bike/Pillion comms on our daily commute to work, and on the weekends my brother and I use the bike to bike comms with our GME UHF's. Have had absolutely no issues at all. Its so much more enjoyable when you can talk to someone while your riding.
The installation went pretty smoothly as well - Dennis did very professional job. He even came out the following weekend to fine tune my earpiece setup - free of charge!
Can't say enough good things about the intercoms and your levels of service.
Cheers,

I bought a Baehr Verso Plus intercom three years ago for my Bandit 1200S. It has since been swapped to my Hayabusa and just wanted to say how pleased I am with it. From travelling in a large group around the South Island (NZ) to very fast excursions on the race track, the communication is brilliant! I get clear, windless comms up to around 200 k/ph. Obviously the bike to bike also requires a UHF radio connected through the Verso with push to talk button. It's brilliant.
I often take my wife with me on weekends and its added a completely new and excellent dimension to riding for us.
Thanks Tony!

Tony,
The Baehr system has been up and running for more than a month now and is everything it’s cracked up to be.
I used a cut down kitchen sink soap and utensil holder to mount the unit and so far there’s been no problems. It took a couple of goes to get the sensitivity right – a cough or lifting the visor would attenuate the music.
All in all, I’m pretty happy with equipment, its performance and your patient support and good advice.
Cheers David.

Comments on non VOX Basic intercom:
I have installed a Baehr Basic intercom system to my 1999 Triumph Legend. When all the kids left home I either had to find a way for my wife to enjoy the biking experience more or it was going to be less riding for me. So I started looking for a intercom system so we could communicate and enjoy the ride together. After some research I come to the clear option that the Baehr was most likely the best system on the market.
While not the cheapest intercom available I am a firm believer in you get what you pay for. I did not believe that any system no matter what the cost could provide clear speech with out some microphone interference picking up loud exhaust, wind and road noise. I purchased the Basic model with the back up plan of fitting my own power on / off switch as static and other noise would soon wear thin on the nerves. At least I could use the system at low speeds say under 50 KPH and ask if a pit stop was due etc. which would still improve the biking experience.
I mean technology is great but not that good, right? Nope, wrong. The Baehr Basic model is nothing like basic. The Baehr Basic is a rider to passenger/pillion intercom system with 1 extra connection for a Radar detector, or music of your choice. The Basic model remains on all the time and is not voice activated. I can not believe how well this system works. With over 2,000 km now travelled it has never once picked up even 2 seconds of wind, road or exhaust noise while remaining voice active on all the time.
How the system works I don’t know but it does. I have an after market loud exhaust system on my bike and before installing the intercom I had always worn ear plugs to save my ears. The system picks up instantly any thing you say, including coughing, humming and singing. It does not miss a fraction of the first spoken word. I thought I might have to say something like one, two, three, then say what I wanted to say but no.
Its just like talking on the phone, you miss nothing. I find the system is perfect up to 100 kph may be 120 kph and then I might have to repeat myself some times after that. However I have to confess I installed the microphone in the wrong position in my helmet. Instead of being by my mouth/ lips, I installed it at the bottom of the bottom of my full face helmet and it touches my chin. My mistake when I loosely fitted the helmet on my head and thought I had the correct location. My second error was the ear speakers where I removed to much styrene from the helmet and recessed the speakers to further from my ears than I needed to. And yet the system works perfectly.
Had I placed the components where they should be perhaps it would work well up to the 160 kph. One more comment, I always use ear plugs so purchased a set of Motosafe Alpine plugs. Again these allow you to hear voices (yeh I know) Ok, hear your passenger talking while cutting most if not all the wind noise.
Again a great piece of technology. One more thing, the written fitting instructions in German are not much help. How ever there are fitting instruction photos available on line at www.challengermotors.co.nz click on the Contents and are helmet model specific. With up to 20 photos and each is worth a 1,000 words, these are a great help. The Baehr Basic is worth every dollar I paid and you will not regret it if a Rider to Pillion intercom system is what you are after.

G'day Tony,
Noticed someone had already put my comments to you from the K12LT web site (jake). But just thought I would write you again to say thanks and let everyone know about the great support service you offer. As you know recently we had a glitch with the microphone on my helmet just before another trip. The glitch however was my fault and caused by an over twisting of the wire to plug into the system, I must be a bit heavy handed. your efforts to have a replacement to me were amazing, messed up my wiring on the Monday and had the new system to me by the Thursday PM. System is working very well and as I have stated before I still hear my better half snoring away. Once again Tony thank you for the terrific support. If anyone reading this wants to contact me then I am more than willing to speak with them over the fitment of my system and how well it has been going. You can contact me by email at,

Hi Tony,
What an amazing product! Out of the box, the Baehr needed no adjustments, no soldering, just plug it in and go! Very high quality, well engineered, worth the money. Thanks for your great price and service, we appreciate it. We (Nelson, me, and Raffy) had an "install party" at Raffy's house on Saturday, went real well. It took the longest in figuring out how to run the cables for all the toys on the bike. The actual comm install took about 20 minutes. Amazing...
Anyway, we are all very pleased, thanks again!

Hi Paul,
At the home show on Friday 12/03/04 we were discussing the BMW intercom unit for the K1200LT. I believe in purchasing the best product at the beginning if at all possible. I did a lot of research on the Internet and read a lot of testimonies. In some cases I actually contacted the people who had different systems. In the end I decided to go with the baehr intercom system. It is made in Germany. Tony is the distributor for this product for USA, Canada, NZ and Aust. He might even be the distributor for the world, but not sure on that one. I have used the system for about 6 months now and I absolutely love it. Some members of our BMW club (over 400 members) have other cheaper systems but in the end they sell them as they look really after market.
The Baehr intercom system is really a system that looks part of the bike. Tony has a free call number and it is 1800 008 647.
The website for the K1200lt's is http://www.baehrintercoms.com/k1200lt.htm.
It is compatable with the GME 40 channel UHF CB Transceiver http://www.gme.net.au/land/tx6200_main.html.

G'day guys,
Thought some people might be interested to the Baehr Communications system. We have had this system for a while now, had it fitted to my RT and now put on our LT. System works brilliantly, no wind noise, in fact it is so clear I can hear my better half snoring as we travel.
Had a minor glitch recently with an intermitent problem. The service provided by Challenger Motors who distribute the system from NZ sent me a replacement system while mine was getting sorted. Problem turned out to be a faulty plug. This was rectified and everything is now back to normal.
The back up support by Tony at Challenger Motors is well above what you would expect from any company. He has gone out of his way to ensure the system works correctly. If anyone one is contemplating a comms system then I would recommend you have a look at this system. We did a fair amount of research prior to purchasing and looked at most systems on the market. We certainly made the right choice.
Its nice to have good back up service, not always found these days.

Tony,
Sorry about the super long delay getting back to you - we have not really touched the ground since last contacting you.
The intercom system arrived safe and sound the following Thursday and picked it up Saturday. Needless to say Sunday was spent installing it on the GS - fits really well next to the battery. Managed to download some wiring diagrams so connected into the ignition circuit in the fuse box.
First test was commuting to work Monday, about 20 mins through state forest before we hit the suburbs - and what a wonderful thing it is. Its difficult to understand how the unit automatically adjusts for wind noise without actually experiencing it - the process is so seamless and communication so natural. Certainly adds another dimension to riding, and the mobile phone interface is brilliant. It must be rewarding to sell such a great product.
We are off to Townsville this weekend so will give the system a good road test. Will let you know how it goes. Thanks for your prompt and efficient handling of our order, and for installing the mikes etc. We look forward to many miles of shared experiences.
Take care

Impressions
Hugh found the installation of the system on the bike a bit involved but even in the heat (35degrees plus in Sydney) but he did a very professional job. At the first opportunity I will provide some digital photos for your records.
On static testing the system was impressive nice clear communication. When completely installed I took my son as pillion for a ride around town to test the system on the move and this is where the whole system came into it's own - clear as a bell. On the BMW R1150RT with the radio set at volume level of three it was too loud with the VOX cutting in for rider to pillion communication with minimal delay. Connecting the UHF CB just added to the pleasure of the whole integrated system with crystal clear transmissions. My pillion using a boom mike had no trouble at speed to discuss the heat wave conditions during the ride. The fit of the system into the BMW system helmets was a 15 minute job - clip/unscrew the padded lining insert the ear speakers, fix the microphone to the hinged chin piece and connect and test with the system.
Overall on a rating system - excellent
See you at the Ulysses AGM in Geelong - ride safe

Just a brief note to thank you for the installation last weekend.
We ventured out today for a test ride, being about the first semi-fine day this week, and I am pleased to report the system functioned perfectly. My pillion is very happy with the new set-up and the voice clarity is excellent - far and away a huge improvement over the previous system (Autocom)
No longer do I have to slow down or have the communication repeated. Excellent.

Bonjour Tony
The set-up is finished on my R1100Rs
. fixed installation of the Ultima (on front of tank), with 12 V drawn from the front panel (right)
. fixed Ham radio (ICOM IC-706MK2) in the topcase, linked to port 1 of Ultima
. fixed mobile phone (with "twin" sim card of my usual mobile) : old Ericsson auto answer in the topcase, linked to port 2
. fixed MP3 reader in my tank bag, linked to music port
. portable Alan 503 transceiver (used for other bikes communications, clipped when needed to my tank bag) linked to port 3
. port 4 is still available for a "speaking GPS" that I will use when travelling in Australia
Comments : on my Autocom, I only had : transceiver, music, intercom pilot-pillion. BUT, when I had the transceiver through the Autocom, even with coils, different settings, I always had the "whistle" of injection noise. That was a pain, so when no pillion, I just did use the transceiver directly linked to my helmet. And in this case, transmission was bad over 80 km/h.
Now : the sound is perfect for all units connected, up to 140 km/h. As for the transmission, it is crystal clear. I am really happy
As for my wife's bike : F650GS : she has fixed transceiver (Ham radio YESU FT-100), fixed music player, and portable mobile phone.
Same results !
The extra cables will be used for spare, except the curly helmet cables that I need to finish to install all the house's helmets.
Thank you - Best regards

Article from webBikeWorld http://www.webbikeworld.com
http://www.webbikeworld.com/r2/baehr/baehr-intercoms.htm
wBW Visitor "C.M." sent these comments regarding the Baehr intercom:
"I found your website in the spring of this year. It is great. I have used it extensively as a source for parts for my 2002 BMW K1200RS. It has proved invaluable as a source. I wrote you once before regarding a part I purchased and feel compelled to write again.
When I initially purchased my bike, I had installed an Autocom intercom system. I ride a lot with my 7 year old son and it is important that I be able to speak with him while riding, for both his safety and my sanity. Since installation I have been extremely unhappy with the Autocom system. I can't even stress how unhappy. My son was so upset because many times he could barely communicate with me and this frightened and frustrated him (and me). About a month and a half ago I saw the review for the Baehr communication system on your website. Given my troubles with the Autocom system I was obviously interested and even a little skeptical. I read the reviews and thought the system sounded a little to good to be true. I called Tony at Challenger Motors and spoke with him at length on at least two occasions regarding the system that would be right for me and the installation on my bike. I discussed my problems with the Autocom system and he assured me that I would not have these problems with the Baehr system. On my second call I ordered the Ultima XL model along with the cables for walkman and radar interface. I installed the system myself in about two hours and the helmet speakers and mike in two helmets in about one hour each. I called Tony for advice on the helmet headset installation and he directed me to his website where there were detailed instructions.
Long story, but the system works great. This is a quality piece of electronic gear. The installation instructions were precise and accurate. Adjustment was a snap. Most importantly, the communication between passenger and rider is exceptional, clear and loud. My son and I have never been so pleased with any previous purchase for our bike. This device really lives up to its billing. I like the numerous adjustments that allowed us to tailor the system to our needs, this is very important with any intercom. By comparison the Autocom stuff is really garbage (not my chosen word but appropriate for PG audiences). Helmet installation tolerance with the Autocom system is under 1/4", what a crock. There is virtually no way of being that precise in a motorcycle helmet on a repeatable basis.
Lastly, Challenger Motors and specifically Tony are a real pleasure to deal with. I recently purchased some additional cable for cell phone etc. from Tony. Despite calling after hours, he took the time to speak with me about my experience with the installation and the parts I wanted to order. All while he was late for a 360 KM ride. He took the time to explain some additional adjustments to improve the system performance.
All I can say is thanks. Without your website I would still be using the Autocom ... and would be unhappy. Keep up the good work you are making a difference, at least to me. I recommend your website all the time."
Thanks for sending these comments, C.M.!

Tony,
Absolutely F...ing unbelievable! I can't believe how much better that intercom is over the others I have tried. It really underlines what junk they are. Faaaark. I still can't believe how well they work. I got home from Auckland Sunday morning and wrapped the unit in a towel under the seat, grabbed the wife and took off. She was impressed early (although they all work in the driveway), but as the trip unfolded, it just got better. I had to constantly remind her not to yell as we increased in speed (like the other shit boxes we had tried before) as she was blowing my eardrums apart! You were right about remembering to speak normally, even though all prior experiences and logic would have you believe it was not possible! I nevertheless turned my volume down until she gets used to it. A slight mod to decrease the sensitivity of her mic and that was it. Faaaark. Unbelievable.
The next problem I had was shutting her up! I couldn't concentrate! The other problem is now I hear her scream as we tip into corners - I'll just have to belt that out of her! Faaark.
Unreal.
Why didn't I do it earlier?
Thanks!

Hello, Tony.
Just a brief note to tell you that the installation was easier than I could have imagined. The helmet installation is the most difficult, and that wasn't too difficult either.
My wife and I took a brief ride to test the system yesterday evening, and we could not believe how well it works. I'm astounded at how well the VOX works. It was the most enjoyable ride we've ever taken together. I was also astounded by how quickly the system reacts and reduces music volume when one speaks. Amazing!
(Second email)
The system worked very well for me on my vacation. The Kenwood radios were so loud and clear through the Baehr, that they put other riders' radio audio quality to shame. The cell phone also works well through the Baehr. Music fidelity is excellent, although I would like more bass response.
Thanks again for your help!

Just a short note to say thank you for all your help and assistance regarding the verso intercom, this would have to be the best intercom on the market.
My wife and myself road to the south coast for the weekend and the intercom performed brilliantly, there's no wind or static noise, and the verso unit and speakers would have to be one of the easiest intercoms to fit and use.

By the way...
I installed mine last night. I didn't get started until half past 9 and finished half past midnight.
One word - Unbelievable!
We commuted into work this morning and I gave the wife the CB hand held for her car and I was on the bike, at speeds around 120kmh and the clarity was more than I could ever have imagined.
I do wear ear plugs and was concerned that they would effect the performance, Ha - not a problem. I could actually listen to a morning talk show as clear as if I was in my car. No Exaggeration! I have not tried the phone connection yet and I have a question about set up for when my wife rides on the back I take it the phone is taken out of the options.
I will be installing my wife's system tonight and I'll let you know how that goes.
FYI, I have owned J & M and Chatter Box....They don't compare.
I also didn't know you provide both sets of speakers and mic's with each system, you won't find that in any body else's systems.

Well two words for you Tony," Bloody Brilliant", i got straight back into it this morning and went over everything once more and i have to apologise to you for disturbing you last night. It came down to the pillions connection to the intercom lead, being the first time trying it out, the connection was a little tight and was not completely in. I can hear you laughing from here! Anyway with the riders lead having the gap in the connection and so forth i used some hot glue and now is sealed completely and does not seem to have any probs.
So out we went to try it out with a good ride up the coast and after some fine tuning we both have come to the same conclusion as everyone else, nothing short of brilliant and double that for your service.
When the CB leads and CD lead turn up i will give them ago straight away also to see how they fair.
Once again Tony thanks mate ,take care and know that i will be telling all who'll listen about you and Baehr.

We have our Baehr K1200LT specific intercom for about two months now and we have ridden about 5000 miles with it. We could not be happier.
The clarity of the voice transmission is incredible. Even at high speeds a conversation is possible like sitting on a couch in the living room. The VOX works flawlessly all the time. The system has separate adjustments for rider and passenger for everything. I dont think any other comm. system offers this. It was especially important for us because my wife has a higher level of turbulence since shes more exposed to the wind on the pillion while all is very quiet around my helmet behind the LTs large wind screen. The separate adjustments allowed us to perfectly tune the system to our needs.
The sound of the stereo is good as well. We listen to Classical and Jazz mostly and the sound is very satisfying. The automatic volume increase with speed is a nice feature (also adjustable separately for rider and passenger).
Mounting the system is a breeze the system velcroed under the seat, unplug the rear speaker connector and plug the system in between done! It does not get any easier than this!
The helmet installation was a bit more challenging but with the help of Tonys pictures on the web site and his prompt email response I did it myself in a few hours.
Tony is a terrific guy, very helpful and very nice. After my initial e-mail he e-mailed back within a few hours and offered to call me here in the States to save me phone costs. After we completed the sale, he was in constant email contact asking me how the installation went, how everything worked and whether we were satisfied. He answered all of my questions promptly and thoroughly.
I do recommend this system and Challenger Motors without hesitation.
Thanks Tony for excellent service thanks Baehr for a great comm. system!

I recently purchased the Baehr AVC-16-02 for my K1200LTC. My wife was somewhat skeptical about the intercom, since we have our own sign language. Installation of the unit could not be easier; no wires to cut or splice, simply plugs in to the existing wire harness. It even gets it power from the existing wire harness.
I always wear earplugs, and could not hear the factory stereo at speeds much over 60 mph (95 km/h). After installing the intercom and going on a 1200 mile (2000 km) trip both our expectations were far exceeded. I am able to listen to the CD or radio at any speed I encountered. Having individual controls for the rider and pillion made a huge difference. My wife does not wear ear plugs and the music can be adjusted for either of us independently.
I have not had music on any motorcycle until the K1200LTC. Coupled with the Baehr system, I enjoy it more than I thought possible.
Tony of Challenger Motors is great to work with, always promptly answers any questions. I heartily recommend a Baehr system for whatever motorcycle you ride. Stewart

Twin Blue Motorcycle Tours with Baehr Communications
Number one for the professional, enthusiast and club rider
Twin Blue Motorcycles runs top of the range guided motorcycle tours throughout Australia and provides all the riders’ needs from motorcycle, clothing, to accommodation and meals.
As part of this total touring holiday package, we also provide high-level bike-to-bike communications systems for our riders.
In successfully managing a group of international riders, not conversant with the Australian road rules, it became necessary that we provide high-level communications for rider safety, touring instructions and also the enhancement of the enjoyment of the tour.
These needs above established the testing criteria for the type of communications system that we would seek to fit to our BMW motorcycles.
Not only did we research many different systems from Europe, UK, the US and Australia, but we visited the manufacturing facilities of these companies to ensure we were dealing with professionals who could provide not only the product today, but a long term support and repair facility.
We found only one manufacturer that met our needs and provided the flexibility within the product to suit the ever-changing client base of a touring company. That company was Baehr Communications of Germany.
In selecting Baehr it was critical to our decision that they had a strong support agent within our region. Challenger Motors and Tony Jericevich has turned out to be a great support centre and agent for the products, always there to help us design new concepts and supply product at a moment’s notice.
Twin Blue fully endorse the products from Baehr Communications and its agent in Challenger Motors.
The Twin Blue configured Baehr system allows us to configure UHF radio for bike-to-bike and bike-to-support vehicle communication, mobile telephone, pillion to rider communication and at its higher levels incorporates AM/FM and CD player for total rider enjoyment. We fit this entire package into a 15cm by 20cm tank bag for total portability and user access to controls.
"I found the baehr system essential in managing my tours. I was able to communicate important safety messages to my clients, as well as provide necessary directions. It was also useful in sharing information about points of interest en-route. The baehr system proved to be exceptionally reliable and noise resilient which ensured clarity and was easy to use." said Bernie , one of the Twin Blue Tour Leaders.

Having recently purchased a BMW1150RT, my wife and I rode to Noosa from Melbourne to break it in, as they say. At the completion of the trip we were both of the same opinion, a great way to travel the distances, but with one big drawback - no communication.
Having seen an ad in a magazine for the Baehr systems, I decided to contact Tony at Challenger Motors and get the low-down on them. Throughout my dealings with them I have found Tony to be honest and very helpful with all my enquires.
I finally settled on the R1150RT system as this would plug into the radio - tape deck already on the bike.
Having ridden with the system fitted for two months now, I can categorically state that everything that Tony told me , and all the advertising material I read, is absolutely true.
Imagine tearing down the highway at speed, getting a phone call and being able to answer it without pulling over. Imagine being able to listen to your favourite radio station - cassette - or CD in stereo, whilst clocking up the miles.
Or maybe conversing with friends on other bikes along for the trip, to say nothing of being able to speak to your passenger at any time without having to cock your head sideways and still not getting it right. And all of this on a priority system, e.g. whilst listening to music, the passenger speaks, the music fades, she speaks and the music returns.
The phone rings, the music fades, the passenger can hear the call but cant speak. The call ends, the music returns.
No buttons to press, no controls to adjust - the system does it all.
To anyone with a touring bike I say this:- "Without one of these systems, you are definitely not getting maximum enjoyment from your machine, as it is not complete."
As Tony is now in the throes of setting up a dealership in Melbourne, this will make a fabulous system even easier to purchase and will quell any fears about after sales service although I have to say , I have none.
A great product - well marketed, and worth every cent.

As a pillion I like to talk while on the bike. Now, yelling and hand signals with the odd dig in the rider’s ribs is not my idea of communication.
For years I suffered the snap, crackle and hiss of a cheap helmet to helmet intercom until it finally died. Major panic; what do I do now? I had a list of what I would like an intercom to do. On it were things like:
. No hiss between conversations.
. No cord between rider and pillion to flap around.
. To be able to play music or radio directly into helmets.
. To be able to hold a conversation without the sound breaking up over 80ks.
After having a good look around we settled for a Baehr Verso Plus intercom system. William was happy with this because it is a built in system and the control box is waterproof. The earphones and microphone easily fit into the helmets so you don’t know they are there. So this is how it works:
Just before you get on the motorcycle you plug the cord from the helmet to a fitting on the bike, get on and the intercom works from the battery of the bike. When you speak the system is activated and when nobody is speaking the system shuts down. The volume is automatically adjusted to average sound and noise levels of the helmet.
A word of warning:
The pillion’s eardrums can suffer when the rider bellows at motorists who are not obeying the road rules or starts whistling when he is happy and having a groovy time enjoying the country roads.

Verso Plus

Hi,
I have a 2000' Plus Honda CBR1100XX.
I bought the Verso Plus a couple of months ago now. I had it installed by a car sound store as a friend works there. I took a little while to get it all sorted out as we were getting feedback off the coils but when it was eventually setup. I have the Verso Plus installed in conjunction with a GME TX3400 UHF radio.
This installation is not the normal procedure for the Verso Plus to be installed with. But after some handy work from the guys it means I have a radio that has a LCD display mounted right in front of me just below the screen on my bike.
Now the system is running perfectly, I am writing to thank Challenger Motors for so much help they gave in the installation of this system.
I have recommended this system to a few friends who also look at setting their system up exactly the same. So you have full intercom system, CD player input and UHF radio.
I can vouch for the UHF being easily heard and received at speeds in excess of 230 km/h. Have to love the Northern Territory in Aus.

Tony,
I have spent a considerable amount of time testing motor cycle intercom products, my test of your products has resulted in yours is the winner all round, the options and adjustments offered perform as precisely as you state.
The clear consistent communication does not fade, crackle, alter in any way all the way to 180kph.The fitting of the parts is simple ,the quality is tough as it has to be on a motor cycle, the volume adjustment is the best ,from ranging from normal hearing to a serious deaf condition it is perfectly clear. I have connected a radio ,a cassette player, a CD player all of these offered static free clear sound with sport or high screen.
Bottom line You get what You pay for and more.

TJ’s Intercoms; BAEHR Basic Plus
I have owned other intercoms previously and on a scale of 1 to 10 they rated a 2. Above 110kmh they rated a 0. They are still lying around never to be used.
I was a little skeptical on trying another due to my previous episodes. Alison enjoys the bike but likes to communicate as she gets a little sick of looking at the rear of my head for hours on end. I am coming up to 20 years on big bikes and a lot of this time did big miles by myself. I just go and don’t stop unless it’s for gas. Good for getting from A to B but not so good for your partner.
TJ gave me a Baehr Helmet to use which had the headset fitted and I have a big swede. Size 61. Was a little tight to get on and off but super comfortable and very very quiet. I have a Ross Williams type special screen on my PD (better than my R1100RT screen, a must for all GS riders.) so can ride with my visor up most of the time. Helmet didn’t fog up in the cold weather and quite light.
TJ fitted a mic and speakers to Alison’s SHOEI helmet with duct tape. This took about a minute and worked well.
The intercom unit was sat in the toolbox under the seat and has no controls, eg on/off switch or volume controls. Unit is powered by 12 volts so could be hard wired in or to the park light so when bike is going unit goes, or via the BMW accessory plug. This is what we had.
Has a plug for rider (masta) and one for pillion to plug into. When getting on and off you just plug these two leads in, that’s it.
Unit goes all the time for intercom and you just speak and other person hears you. Intercom worked well at all speeds I traveled at.(don’t ask cause the answer is yes)
The Basic plus also has facilities for a Walkman to plug in but we didn’t use this.
Another facility is to plug in a CB radio. TJ had 2 handheld Uniden units that put out 1 watt. I put the CB handheld in my tank bag. It had an aerial attached to unit that was about 100mm long. A push to talk button is supplied which is attached to the handlebar on the left switch block.
The CB function was great. Not only is there the wank factor but the safety aspect. I could warn TJ of stock on the road, which we had plenty of, narrow roads, other traffic and a host of other obstacles or see if he was ok. Also could warn him of PHRMER’s road hazards.
Through towns we could lose site of each other and know exactly where each other were. At one stage someone took a wrong turn and we got separated by about 2kms and we still kept in touch.
If you are riding in a group you can all be on the same CB channel and knows what’s going on and where they are. Noel could get one so he knows where Maria is all the time. There are 38 channels on this CB or go to a separate channel and have a private conversation.
Only rider to rider can talk to each other via the CB unless the pillion takes the masta outlet out of the intercom.
The quality of sound when using the CB was superb as was the intercom and worked well at all speeds and so easy to use.
This is one great tool that I will be investing in and can see a great future in. $725 is the price for the Baehr Basic Plus. This may sound a lot but this is computerized technology and has a 2-year warranty. A couple of options are available for the CB.
As you can see the Baehr Basic Plus is one of the bottom end units made. I am impressed with its quality of sound. Then the other models and I hear they are even better with more functions.

Hi Tony,
The weather last Saturday could not have been better for an all-day bike ride North of Sydney, sunny all day, not too hot though which is great.
There were 6 bikes in our group, 3 of which were 2-up. Both Gilbert & I had pillions, Gilbert with Anita, my wife Emma was on my bike. The intercom units were sensational and also allowed for a lot of humour between our bikes.
Additionally, there was a lot less straying off-course by riders that were not familiar with the route we were taking. Gilbert & I were able to put them back on the right-track fairly quickly because of our dispersed positions amongst the group and of course clear communication between our 2 bikes via CB radios.
Thanks again, safe riding, it has been a pleasure doing business with you.

Hi Tony,
Just dropping you a line to say my clients are amazed at how good the Baehr intercoms really are. They have had excellent results with music/audio hook-up and mobile phone as well. At last... an intercom that does what it should... It works, BMW K1200LT's, 1150 RT's and the list goes on.
My soon to be wife thinks it is the best thing since sliced bread.
This system has been and absolute asset to my business as a quality, reliable product.
Thanks again.

Hi Tony,
The intercom is installed & working. Very easy to install & only took 2 rides to adjust the system to the correct settings that suit us. The intercom works great and the quality of the voice reproduction is crystal clear even at 150km/hr. The stereo connection into the radio/cassette works terrific took 2 months looking into intercom systems & decided on the Baehr system. It was worth the effort & I am very happy with the product. Fabulous! I would recommend the Baehr intercom to anyone who wants to purchase a quality intercom. It changes the whole aspect of riding, being able to talk to your partner as if you were in a car. Thanks again for all your help.

Hi Tony,
Received the intercoms, they are fitted and we used them over the weekend and they worked like a treat. We have tried quite a few different systems but the Baehr system is the best we've come across.
Thanks again for all of your help and we'll pass the good word about the Baehr system.
Cheers,

Thanks Tony,
The speakers are fine, the set up is great, the wife (pillion) is happy and no GST or customs charges were applied. I went for a test ride yesterday through some very windy high country and sitting on 120klm/hr the reception is very clear. I would thoroughly recommend the product.
