Carl Fogarty uses Baehr in NZ documentary

Baehr Communications Systems and Challenger Motors are proud to have been appointed as the official communication systems supplier for Century TV, a UK based Production Company for the recent filming of a motorcycle travel documentary in New Zealand . This programme features four-times World Superbike Champion Carl Fogarty and his wife Michaela, riding BMW’s the length and breadth of the country in the search of great scenery and great activities.

The system, Verso plus and Basic plus, was used as the Fogartys travelled over 3500km from Auckland to Queenstown often involving many hours in the saddle. The Baehr system proved a godsend by keeping Carl and Michaela in complete and continual communication with one other as they enjoyed the unparalleled riding and scenery that New Zealand offers.

Carl said: “We can’t thank Baehr enough for their help in providing the equipment for our project. We rode almost 4000km in under two weeks and it can get pretty lonely on a bike for that amount of time, but being able to talk to Michaela, not to mention singing along together, was one of the fun parts of the whole experience.

“I think it will also be an important part of the programme, as it was at these times that we were most relaxed. I think the guys in the support vehicles also enjoyed being able to listen in! I’m not too technically minded but the equipment seemed to be easy to operate and assemble and worked a treat throughout the trip.”

The documentary series features Carl and his wife Michaela in an action-packed motorcycle adventure, taking in as many experiences as possible in 12 days on the road. Their trip includes a first-hand introduction to Maori culture, as well as wine-tasting, diving, camping, zorbing, surfing, mountain trekking, bungee jumping, skydiving and even sheep-shearing. It also shows how their relationship with each other became stronger than ever through facing their fears together on this once in a lifetime trip.

The Baehr system, apart from allowing Carl and Michaela the freedom of open communication has provided Century TV with fantastic ‘on-bike’ conversations, general fooling about and some well, shall we say, very dodgy singing - especially from Carl.

The documentary will see Carl Fogarty as a man with a vulnerable, human side in a completely different light from his race faced competitive days, and is due to air later in the year. It will also form the basis of a Christmas DVD release.

Stay tuned for some actual recorded sound bites from the journey in the coming months.
